doubleBaRRiL Digital Marketing is a division of BaRRiL Group (Pty) Ltd ("BaRRiL Group", "doubleBaRRiL", "we", "us" or "our"), a company registered in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store and protect personal information when you visit doublebarril.com, our admin and client portals, or otherwise interact with us (collectively, the "Services").

We aim to comply with the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable data protection laws around the world. Where local laws provide additional or different rights, those rights apply to you in addition to anything described below.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide to us, such as when you complete a contact form, request a strategy call, take our GEO Readiness Quiz, download a resource, subscribe to our newsletter, or communicate with us by email, phone or social media. This may include your name, business name, job title, email address, phone number, and any message content you choose to share.

Information collected automatically when you use our website, including your IP address, approximate location, browser and device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and interactions with links and forms. We collect this information using cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies (see "Cookies and tracking technologies" below).

Information from third parties, such as when you interact with our content via Google, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), LinkedIn, or other advertising and analytics platforms, or when a business partner refers you to us.

2. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries, provide quotes, and deliver the services you request;
  • Operate, maintain, secure and improve our website and client/admin portals;
  • Personalise content and measure the performance of our marketing campaigns;
  • Send service-related communications and, where you have consented (or where otherwise permitted by law), marketing communications, which you may opt out of at any time;
  • Comply with our legal obligations, enforce our agreements, and protect our rights, property and safety, and that of our clients and users.

Where GDPR applies, our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract or steps taken at your request prior to entering one; your consent (for example, marketing cookies and newsletters); our legitimate interests (for example, securing our website and understanding how it is used); and compliance with a legal obligation.

3. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, and the LinkedIn Insight Tag, to understand how visitors use our site, measure advertising performance, and remember your preferences (such as light/dark mode). These tools may set cookies on your device and, in some cases, share information with the relevant platform in accordance with that platform's own privacy policy.

Where required by law (including under GDPR and the EU/UK ePrivacy rules), we will request your consent before placing non-essential cookies. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, and you can opt out of interest-based advertising using tools such as the Your Online Choices portal (EU), the Digital Advertising Alliance portal (US), Meta's ad preferences, and Google's ad settings.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers and processors who help us run our business, such as hosting providers, email and CRM platforms, analytics providers (e.g. Google), advertising platforms (e.g. Meta, LinkedIn, Google Ads), and other technology vendors, under appropriate confidentiality and data protection terms;
  • Other companies within the BaRRiL Group, where reasonably necessary to provide the Services;
  • Professional advisers, regulators and law enforcement, where required to comply with the law, or to protect our rights, property or safety, or that of others;
  • A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of our business.

5. International data transfers

We are based in South Africa, but some of our service providers (including analytics and advertising platforms) operate internationally and may process personal information outside of your country, including in the United States and the European Economic Area. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection, including through contractual safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where applicable.

6. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, comply with our legal, accounting or reporting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it.

7. Your rights

If you are in South Africa (POPIA): you have the right to be notified that your personal information is being collected, to access your personal information, to request correction or deletion of your personal information, to object to the processing of your personal information, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

If you are in the EU/UK (GDPR): you have the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict the processing of your personal information, to data portability, to object to processing (including for direct marketing), to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

Other jurisdictions: if you are located elsewhere (for example, Canada, Australia, or other jurisdictions with similar data protection laws), you may have similar rights under your local law, and we will honour valid requests to the extent required.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in the "Contact us" section below. We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request.

8. Children's privacy

Our Services are intended for businesses and individuals over the age of 18 and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
